Vietnam in the Caribou.

 

This video was produced by Bob St John. Bob was a Loady on the Caribou in Vietnam, he delivered an aircraft to Vung Tau in August 1964 then came back again in June 1965 and stayed until Feb 1966. On his return to Australia, he was posted to 37 Sqn (E model Hercs) and had a further 34 trips to Vietnam.

 

An excellent video, definitely worth a look.

35 Sqn Freedom of the City.

 

Recently 35 Squadron were awarded the Keys to the City in FNQ Cooktown. Ted Mac went along and he sent us this video.

 

 

 

On the 18th November, 1964, Caribou A4-185 crashed at A Ro in Vietnam, it was written off.

 

 
 

Back in 2009 the RAAF finally retired the faithful old Caribou at a ceremony at Townsville.

Gary Kimberley.

 

Gary Kimberley flew the Caribou in Vietnam from November 1965 until August 1966 and while there took a bunch of photos. He has made them available to us and you can see them below. Click the pic.

 

 

 

Caribou from Oakey to HARS.

 

On the 2nd November 2011, Caribou A4-234 left Oakey Army Base, where it had been stored for some time and joined the HARS stable of aircraft at Wollongong. See the video below and click HERE to see some pics taken on the day.
