Our website is getting close to being updated and is looking good. I can add content, stories etc.
It will continue to be improved regularly. There will be links to museums. All the emails and updates I send will be on the website so if you miss the email you can see them on the website.
I have been trying to contact AirBus. They have not replied. Hopefully they will and continue to be our sponsor.
Brisbane Anzac Day March
I am sending a letter to the committee requesting that veterans march first. I will keep everyone informed on the outcome of our request. We also had a problem with the Vietnamese community wth the performance of ‘Cheap Charlie’. It is now resolved. Bridging the Gap will be good and they will perform ‘Cheap Charlie’ as well.
Vietnam Vets Museum
I am attending on the 5 August for the unveiling of A4 231. Looklng forward to catching up with all those who are attending as well.
35Sqn 75th Anniversary
I believe it will be held at the Castle Hill RSL on the 15 september 2017. I don’t have any details yet but I wll forward them as soon as I receive them.
I might get some copies of Jeff Pedrina’s book, “Wallaby Airlines” soon. I have copies of “Suggy’s Men” and David Grieson’s book, “Gru’s Story” and Linda Woods, producer of “Untold Stories of the Caribou” will be out of production with no more available. I do have some in stock also HARS has them as well.
I have spoken to Lee’s son, Shane, re Lee’s Memorial Service on the 18/06/17 at Hunters Hill Bowls Club. He welcomes our participation. To help Shane, could you please advise me if you are attending. I will then be able to tell Shane the numbers. We were going to make a presentation to Lee on Anzac Day but we will now present it to Shane on the Memorial Day.
We are rebuilding our website to make it more user friendly. The main reason is there are not enough photos of the “A” team. This will be rectified. We are looking to expand our membership to all who served on Caribous in its 45 years of service to our nation. All ex 35 Squadron members who served are more than welcome as well as the current members of 35 Squadron. If you know any one who wants to be on our mail out list please let me know.
Don has advised me A4 231 will be unveiled on the 08 August at the National Vietnam Veterans Museum at Phillip Island and I will be attending.
I think it was a success. I haven’t been given the bullet yet. It will be the same next year. Everyone is welcome including partners.
